TalkTalk is a homephone service provider that offers free broadband to its voice customers who sign up to its call plans. As a competitor to BT, TalkTalk claims it has over ten percent of phone users on its extensive telecom network. Currently, the Carphone Warehouse owns TalkTalk which contributes over 3 million connections to its parent company.
TalkTalk was launched in 2003 and remained as fixed line provider during the early days. TalkTalk is one of the ISPs that have given impetus to unbundling of exchanges and along with AOL, it has the largest LLU network across UK. TalkTalk claims that its broadband service has penetrated over 70 percent of UK households till date.
TalkTalk call plans are designed to cater various needs of the majority of home phone users in UK. They offer unlimited free calls to UK landline numbers and to international destinations. They also bagged "Overall customer satisfaction" and "Value for money" awards based on a customer survey in 2006.
