BT Broadband Customer-base is 5 million
BT, the prominent fixed-line internet service provider serving the people of the United Kingdom, has come with an important announcement that it has signed up its five millionth broadband internet customer on Decembe
r 9. By doing so BT becomes the first broadband provider to pass the landmark. The total number of broadband consumers in the United Kingdom has also been subject to a considerable increase to more than 14 million currently from the 135,000 figure, seven years back.
BT’s consumer division managing director, John Petter commented on the achievement that currently 99 per cent of the exchanges in the United Kingdom provided broadband service. Petter who said that the ability to transform the lives of the people considerably vested with broadband, added that the fact that they were continuing to show a robust take up at a time marked by the existence of more than 14 million ADSL broadband internet customers in the country was testament to the unique advantages of remaining connected.
Petter further claimed that the highly competitive broadband internet market of the United Kingdom showed that the broadband customers in the United Kingdom have enjoyed remarkably low prices beside tremendous innovation.
BT that has just boasted the completion of the next generation fibre optic broadband rollout to 10 million UK households in time for the Olympic Games of 2012, has also promised Elizabeth Patterson, the lucky five millionth customer of BT, all expenses for her trip to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver Canada.
