Mobile broadband lets the users to go on the web as well as surf the net at high speed. Not to forget, it also enables the user to email from anywhere.

Nevertheless, if you compare broadband, you will understand that mobile broadband has its issues too. It could vary from inaccessibility in rural parts to problem with the speed of its broadband networks.

Mobile broadband employs the 3G mobile phone networks to allocate its services. However, the most recent generation network technology is yet to reach over 10% of the UK. By and large they still make use of 2G networks.

Not to forget the mobile broadband connection in these parts would as well be meager. Use the dongle or MiFi unit to access the broadband supplier’s site, where you can check on its coverage. Better to do so prior to getting the Mobile broadband connection.

Just put in the postcode and research the regular coverage you can look ahead to. Even if only 2G network is accessible in your locale, you could still send emails. However, streaming videos or music could take too long.

Normal mobile broadband speed probable is 7.2Mb. You can get the utmost broadband speed shown in advertisements for a service provider mostly in urban regions. Too many web users on the same bandwidth would restrict the speed of your broadband connection.

Broadband speed is also deterred by electrical intrusion. Area with access to only 2G network is another aspect that slows down the broadband speed.

Just plug in your mobile broadband modem into the USB port of your laptop and do as asked in instructions to set up the required software. In case after connecting the modem, it does not function, check out a different USB port. This will let you know, if the issue is with the modem or the port.

After plugging in the modem, if you are unable to set up the software, double click on my computer icon. Find the icon meant for your modem; click On Explore, followed by the option to install.

With the advent of 3G technologies, network operators have extended their efforts to include a wide range of more complex services. They develop their ability in a bid to increase the network power. They generally offer services like a wider area of voice signal and high speed Internet connection, at the rate of 5-10 MB every second.

Meanwhile, 3G services were introduced in the United Kingdom and in Italy during start of 2003. The European Union Council also proposed that by end of 2005, 3G would expand its services to provide access to 80% of the population in Europe.

Large expenses of the added licensing fees, in the interim act as a deterrent to the launch of 3G networks in certain countries. One other factor against it is that it does not employ a radio frequency even as 2G networks do, so that Mobile operators have to further assemble new networks or upgrade equipment for new system. They also have to get new licence on new frequencies.

However, this issue is not prevalent in United States as everything is on the same frequency there. All the relevant issues are soon resolved and more and more people across the world come to depend on 3G technologies.

Cellular mobile telecommunications networks are enhanced to employ 3G technologies. Japan, initially introduced the 3G services nationwide. Korea also started to use 3G nationally in 2004. The complete change, however took place only in 2006.

One of the major causes for the change to 3G network, which happened by around 2003 was the limited space of the 2G. 2G did not include the expected wireless needs of this day, nor does it extend to reach the high speed. It only covers the voice transmission and slow transmission.

Some of the 2.5 technologies offered help us to analyse the applications of wireless technologies, as well as the increased demand for 3G services. 3G technologies have been incorporated to a great number of cell phone users worldwide, by today. The service providers and the users, meanwhile, ponder about certain features of 3G.

The points under discussion includes; the costly fees levied for the 3G service licenses, the various disparity in the terms of the license, the booming debt of the telecommunication companies that makes it hard for them to set up the communication lines as is required for 3G, lack of support to operators facing monetary problems and high price for the 3G phones.

Other aspect to consider is that 2G mobile users do not spend money for the use of 3G services and the service, though launched recently does not cover a large area. Some of the countries also have to splurge huge amount for access to 3G services including the internet.

Finally, the fact to ponder on is that consumers do not require 3G voice and data services in a handheld device. 3G also tend to use up power excessively.

You are on the road, with no way to access internet to surf the net for information or even check your email. Mobile broadband service providers nowadays have come with a solution to this problem. They make sure that you have access to internet as much as you want, even while travelling. They want you to be able to access net as often as you can, as you do while at home or in office. You can compare broadband providers & services to make sure you get the best and most of it.

Mobile Broadband service providers work hard to ensure that you do not have a fruitless day, when on the road. You can access the internet via a card, you plug into your laptop computer or by just pressing a button on your mobile or pocket PC.

When you look at the extent to which we depend on net connection in business, minus the internet access, the output will come to an abrupt end. Some insurance companies through the mobile broadband internet connection provide document and rise in the productivity of 25% in the number of claims processed daily.

Every Internet providers give you access to internet, through different networks. You need to be sure that you have a very secure and fast connection, or you could get frustrated, loosing access to net, while on middle of something. With the right kind of connection, you need not worry whether you just browse through your mail or read through those important files, for the last time before your meeting with the client.

Another important fact to consider is the speed of a connection. Slow connection is as exasperating as loosing access to internet. A large number of companies deliver web accelerator service, mainly for mobile broadband connection and broadband connection. One if those companies that offer this service are Google.

Meanwhile, there are different methods by which you can test and optimise the speed of your internet connection. The tests are taken from dslreports.com. They are as follows:

First comes, The 24/7 Monitoring test, for which you ring your IP address after every 10 minutes and record the ping. You will, in the meantime receive weekly reports by email. This report would include the ping as well as the packet loss graphs of your downtime. You also have option to download the required statistics to your PC for analysis.

Another test is Wake your PC remotely, which will enable you to connect to your PC from another place.

Then there is, the More Speed Tests. It enables you to check your download and upload speeds, via five different tests.

Finally, the Tweak Test also gives you access to check your download and upload speeds. You can test it in five different methods.

Your computer could also be slower than usual, because you have not blocked the pop-ups. Another of the reason for slow connection could be spam or even that you are browsing during the prime time. However, if you feel that the slow speed is result of your connection, you can also look into the Google web accelerator or such.

Google provides the free web accelerator; which helps to speed up your broadband connection, to hyper speed. The web accelerator compresses the Web page that you search for from Google’s servers, thus saving about three hours of your loading time, every month.

Mobile broadband has become popular in the recent years. Mobile broadband providers are introducing modems that are portable and light in weight. Modems are made compact to enable easy connection to laptops or desktop PCs.

The mobile broadband USB sticks look like the USB memory sticks. They are highly portable and hence are easily transportable. You only need to plug and play to get connected.

The Mobile Broadband USB Dongles are as similar as that of a common mobile phone. It provides fast internet connection with ease. The device with a wire is connected to your computer for network connection.

Now some special laptops and netbooks in market have got mobile broadband built-in it. They are a two in one offer. You can have basic computer applications done as well as browse with this netbooks inbuilt with broadband.

The Mobile Broadband Data Cards are also good for the purpose. But it is not yet popular. It is smaller than a USB drive and possesses all the good qualities required for an internet connection. It requires an additional plug and go software installed in your laptop or Desktop PC.

news

One of the five main mobile broadband operators of the United Kingdom, Vodafone announced on Thursday that it has started upgrading its mobile broadband service to an enhanced HSDPA technology that offers a theoretical optimum 14.4Mbps download speed.

This is a significant news for both Vodafone and the mobile broadband segment of the UK, as the mobile broadband provider takes the credit for the first operator in the country to rollout the highest specification for the 3.5G technology of HSDPA (High-speed Downlink Packet Access).

HSDPA is a variant of the 3rd generation technology, which shall be in the near future superseded by the more advanced 3G variant HSPA+ (HSPA Involved). However, one mobile broadband technology the world is focusing on with great expectations, is the LTE (Long Term Evolution technology).

It is also interesting to note the fact that at present, none of Vodafone’s rival mobile broadband networks operating in Britain offer theoretical maximum speeds of anywhere near what Vodafone provides.

Nevertheless, one fact that readily disappoints the aspiring buyers of the Vodafone HSDPA mobile broadband connections is that the 14.4Mbps theoretical maximum shall never be achieved practically.

According to Jeni Mundy, the technology chief of Vodafone, this network upgrade of the operator meant that the users could be reassured of their consistently boosting their network quality in response to demand.

Mobile broadband comes with a number of terms of which the user should be familiarised in order to have a better know-how about mobile broadband. There are few words listed down which will help you in understanding them.

3G and 4G
3G is third generation mobile network which enhance the data transfer rate. Similarly 4G is known as Fourth Generation mobile network and their trials could offer 1 Gbps speed when it is stationary.

Dongle
Dongle is the term given for a mobile broadband and it comes with a size equal to that of a credit card but is a bit thicker. It is used in order to access the internet. It can be plugged directly into the laptop or desktop computer through a USB port.

Stick
This is also used for accessing the internet and is shaped like a stick. With a length of just few inches, it could be plugged into the USB port of the computer and works well as mobile broadband modem.

Data card
This is an extraordinary mobile broadband modem which works only with laptops with PCMIA expansion slots.

HSPA
The expansion of HSPA is High Speed Packet Access and this is yet another type of mobile broadband standard.

HSDPA
HSDPA when expanded is High Speed Downlink Packet Access is another commonly used mobile broadband standard in most of the deals available today.

HSUPA
High Speed Uplink Packet Access is the expansions of HSUPA. This is a well known standard and offers very fast mobile broadband uplink connections.

LTE
Long Term Evolution or LTE is related to 4G technology. In just few years LTE will be ahead of the next generation mobile broadband networks.

The advantages
The best part of mobile broadband connection is that you can carry it every where you go unlike the home broadband connections. With the mobile broadband you can access the e-mails, browse through the websites and can do a number of tasks. Just like the mobile phones you can do a number of multimedia tasks when you are in the move.

With the mobile broadband you will not have to make monthly payment and this way you could save significant amounts. In the other case you will have to pay the home phone rental every month in order to get connected to the ADSL broadband.

Plug and play technology is supported whereby you will not have to do the installation all by yourself or call the technical support team. When you first plug the modem to the laptop all the software required for connecting the internet is automatically installed.

Mobile broadband customers could get the benefits of really good pay as you go packages and can save considerable amounts.

The disadvantages
Broadband customers should be satisfied with the low download limits offered by he mobile broadband providers on various packages. A maximum of 10GB per month is allotted which is too little for an average user.

In case if you exceed the specified limits you will have to pay high costs which is another disadvantage with the mobile broadband.

Currently very slow connections are offered by the mobile broadband providers. The UK’s fastest mobile broadband network Vodafone offers just 7.2Mb speeds, whereas others are able to offer maximum speed of 2.8Mb. The speeds are expected to increase with the time.

Coverage is yet another issue especially in rural areas. Most of the parts in the UK are covered with the 3G network but it is not the same with remote areas. In these areas speed are considerable slower.

With the advantages there are few disadvantages of mobile broadband and before deciding on a mobile broadband connection do consider these factors.
