Virgin Media, the largest consumer broadband provider was formed after the merger of NTL and Telewest in 2006. Virgin Media offers broadband services to 90 percent of its customers via its cable network. A small part of its customer base that live in areas where its cable network is not available, access its broadband services via its ADSL or dial-up. Currently, Virgin has more than 3.5 million customers.
